Roadside bomb kills 2 Pakistani troops in Balochistan

At least two Pakistani paramilitary troops have been killed and nine others wounded by a roadside bomb in the southwestern province of Balochistan, Press TV reports.

A patrol car of paramilitary Frontier Corps soldiers drove over a buried explosive device in the Dera Bugti district, situated about 400 kilometers (250 miles) southeast of the provincial capital Quetta, late on Saturday night, local officials told Press TV.

Law enforcement forces cordoned off the area after the incident and transferred the injured paramilitary troops to a local hospital.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the terrorist action.

Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and associated groups have carried out numerous attacks on security forces as well as civilians and managed to spread their influence in various regions of the country, despite frequent offensives by the Pakistani army.

Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US in the so-called war on terrorism, according to local media outlets.

Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan.
